Welcome from the Chair

Welcome from the Conference Chair of the 4th International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences

We are pleased to announce the 4th International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences. This international conference, supported by the journal Applied Sciences (ISSN: 2076-3417), will bring together scientists from different areas to discuss important recent developments in a number of fields. It represents an opportunity to gather an interdisciplinary community to discuss applied sciences. More specifically, after the success of the first three editions, this year’s edition will focus on 10 thematic areas of applied nature sciences:

A. Applied Biosciences and Bioengineering
B. Nanosciences, Chemistry and Materials Science
C. Computing and Artificial Intelligence
D. Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering
E. Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
F. Energy, Environmental and Earth Science
G. Food Science and Technology
H. Applied Physical Science
I. A Student Session
J. Poster Session

Posters can be presented without an accompanying proceedings paper and will be available on this website during and after the e-conference.

Participants will have the opportunity to examine, explore, and critically engage with issues and advances in these areas. We hope to facilitate discussions and exchange within the community.

During the conference, live online sessions will be conducted in which invited speakers and the best contributions from each session will be collected and brought to a live event broadcast of webinars through Zoom. There will be a Q&A during these sessions in which participants’ questions will be addressed. Detailed information about the topics and dates will be shared soon.

A student competition will also be held online for selected students' contributions (students as correspondences). These will be exhibited in the student session. For more details, please click the following link: https://sciforum.net/event/ASEC2023#awards.

This event will take place entirely online, allowing participation from all over the world with no concerns regarding travel and related expenditures. An electronic conference provides a platform for rapid and direct exchanges about the latest research findings and novel ideas. Participation, as well as "attendance" of this online conference, is free of charge.

The 4th International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences is sponsored by MDPI and the scientific journal Applied Sciences. The conference proceedings papers and presentations will be available on ASEC2023.sciforum.net for discussion during 27 October–10 November 2023 and will be published in the journal Engineering Proceedings (SCOPUS Indexed; ISSN: 2673-4591).

Extended and expanded versions of conference proceedings papers can be submitted to a Special Issue in the journal Applied Sciences after the conference, with a 20% discount on the article processing charges.

Applied Sciences is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal on all aspects of applied natural sciences. It is published semimonthly online by MDPI.
We hope the community will share our enthusiasm and help to make this 4th edition a success, and that there will be many more conferences in the future.

Instructions for Authors

Submission Information

Submissions should be made by authors online by registering with https://sciforum.net/, and using the "New Submission" function once logged into the system.

1. Scholars interested in participating with the conference can submit their abstract (about 200–250 words covering the areas of manuscripts for the proceedings issue) online at this website up to 21 July 2023.
2. The Conference Committee will conduct a pre-evaluation, based on the submitted abstract, of whether the contribution from the authors of the abstract will be welcome for the 4th International Electronic Conference on Applied Sciences. All authors will be notified by 11 August 2023 about the acceptance of their abstract.
3. If the abstract is accepted for this conference, the author will be asked to submit a minimum of one of the following: a proceedings paper (3-6 pages), a poster, a slides presentation (in PDF), or a short video presentation (max. 3–5 minutes). This should be ready by the submission deadline of 15 September 2023. If you submit a proceedings paper, you need to upload the Word and PDF versions in Original files (zip/word) and Manuscript PDF, respectively. If you choose to submit a poster, a slides presentation (in PDF), or a short video presentation (max. 3–5 minutes), please submit the abstract in Word and PDF format in Original files (zip/word) and Manuscript PDF, respectively.
4. The proceedings paper and presentations will be available on ASEC2023.sciforum.net for discussion and rating during the time of the conference, from 27 October–10 November 2023.

All submissions will be reviewed using the powerful text comparison tool iThenticate. This procedure aims to prevent scholarly and professional plagiarism. Submissions will then be peer-reviewed by conference committees based on originality/novelty, quality of presentation, scientific soundness, interest to the readers, overall merit and English level. After the conference, all submissions will be published on sciforum.net, and only the proceeding paper (3-6 pages) will be published in the MDPI journal Engineering Proceedings (ISSN 2673-4591).
Note : Publication of proceedings paper is free of charge.
Before publication, Engineering Proceedings journal will check the plagiarism issue again. Submissions with a lack of novelty will not be published in the journal.

The open access journal Applied Sciences (ISSN: 2076-3417) will publish a Special Issue of the conference. After the conference, the Conference Committee will select manuscripts that may be included for publication in the Special Issue of the journal Applied Sciences (the submission to the journal is independent from the conference proceedings and will follow the usual process of the journal, including peer-review, APC, etc.).

Proceedings Paper
Proceedings papers must be prepared in MS Word using the Proceedings template (see below) and should be converted to PDF format before submission. The manuscript should count at least 3 pages (incl. figures, tables and references) and should not exceed 6 pages. Carefully read the rules outlined in the 'Instructions for Authors' on the journal website and ensure that your manuscript submission adheres to these guidelines.

Manuscripts for the proceedings issue must have the following organization:

  • Title
  • Full author names
  • Affiliations (including full postal address) and authors' e-mail addresses
  • Abstract (200–250 words)
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Methods
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • (Acknowledgements)
  • References
Presentation Slides
Authors are encouraged to prepare a presentation in PowerPoint or similar software, to be displayed online along with the manuscript. Slides can be prepared the same way as for any traditional conference. They should be converted to PDF format before submission.

Video Presentations
Authors are also encouraged to submit video presentations. This is an unique way of presenting your paper and discussing it with peers from all over the world. Video should be no longer than 3-5 minutes and prepared with one of the following formats: .mp4 / .webm / .ogg (max size: 250Mb). It should be submitted with the full manuscript before 15 September 2023.

Posters
Posters will be available on this conference website during and after the event. Like papers presented on the conference, participants will be able to ask questions and make comments about the posters. Posters can be presented without an accompanying proceedings paper.

After acceptance, please upload a copy of the proceedings/abstract as a PDF and Word document, in the corresponding fields, and upload the Poster PDF in the field "Presentation PDF (optional)".

1)The poster should be in PDF format
2)The minimum size for images is 148 mm × 210 mm (horizontal × vertical) at 300 dpi.
3)The content of the poster should be a comprehensive presentation of your accepted submission.
4) There should be no copyright issues with any elements in the poster.
For detailed instructions on how to submit a poster, please contact us.

Potential Conflicts of Interest
It is the authors’ responsibility to identify and declare any personal circumstances or interests that may be perceived as inappropriately influencing the representation or interpretation of clinical research. If there is no conflict, please state here “The authors declare no conflict of interest”. This should be conveyed in a separate “Conflict of Interest” statement preceding the “Acknowledgments” and “References” sections at the end of the manuscript. Financial support for the study must be fully disclosed under the “Acknowledgments” section.

Copyright
MDPI, the publisher of the Sciforum.net platform, is an open access publisher. We believe that authors should retain the copyright to their scholarly works. Hence, by submitting a Communication paper to this conference, you retain the copyright of your paper, but you grant MDPI the non-exclusive right to publish this paper online on the Sciforum.net platform. This means you can easily submit your paper to any scientific journal at a later stage and transfer the copyright to its publisher (if required by that publisher).
